Alligator!!!

We saw our first alligator in the swamp behind our house.  So scary!!!  Easton was looking out our back window and asked, "Is that an alligator, mom?"  I basically brushed off his question and said, "No Easton, we don't have alligators in our backyard!"  He then replies, "No, seriously mom!  It looks like an alligator's tail.  Come look!"  I go over to the window and look just to appease him and sure enough it looks like it could be an alligator's tail!  We couldn't find the binoculars so Nathan suggests I grab my camera and zoom in and sure enough it's an alligator!!!!!!!  I tired getting a picture of the alligator from our back deck but I wanted an even closer picture so Nathan went over to the neighbor's house and snapped one.  I went over to the neighbors dock and when I was about to step on the dock I almost stepped on a snake!  So gross!  I ran into the house screaming that I would never go outside again!  I've decided that I don't mind Florida in the winter but I'm not a fan of when things start warming up and crazy animals start appearing!  So far we've seen our pet alligator twice.  Our neighbor informed us that he's seen two (probably a boy and a girl)...dun dun duuuun!

Nathan's birthday!

Nathan turned 34 this year!  Hopefully he had a good birthday.  Easton had what we thought was an ear infection so he stayed home from school.  They didn't give him any medication so we just gave him Tylenol and Ibuprofen.  Unfortunately, he (and everyone else) suffered all weekend until we brought him back to the doctor and they said he had a sinus infection.  Luckily they gave him antibiotics this time and he was feeling great the next day.  Blair also stayed home on Nathan's birthday because she was throwing up all morning.  Dyer was crying all morning because he didn't think it was fair that he had to go to school when everyone else got to stay home.  Silly boy!  Blakely on the other hand was super excited that she had someone to play with all day long!

Gma's Visit!

My mom came for a visit late February/early March.  It's always fun to hang out with my mom and I wish it happened more often.
At the beach.  I should have taken her the day before because it was way better weather.

Of course we had to take her to see live alligators!

We went for a bike ride and my mom didn't fall or crash!  Plus she even wore a helmet which is BIG since she hates messing up her hair.

We took her to see Zootopia.

We went on a Pirate Cruise.

Dyer got a gold coin for helping out!

The girls won the contest so the boys had to clean up the water mess!

Blakely couldn't resist a mop her size so she decided to help out the boys.

While the boys cleaned the girls got their faces painted.

Blakely was so excited!

The girls got to hula hoop while the boys got their faces painted.

Do you notice Blakely in the background?  Yeah, she wanted to get her face painted again!  She was a little upset when she found out she wasn't going to get her face painted again...

Kayaking

The kids and Nathan had Presidents Day off so we went to a state park and rented a kayak.

Easton

Easton and Dad were the first ones out.

Three youngest waiting their turn to go out in the Kayak.

Blair's turn!

Dyer's turn with Ms. Valerie.

I also went out with all the kids individually but we didn't get any pictures of that... Nathan and I even took Blakely out.

Haha!  I tired on my wedding dress for Blair!  After 11 1/2 years of marriage and 4 kids I still fit in my wedding dress!

New Orleans Trip

Valerie came for a visit the week of Valentine's Day.  She told Nathan and I that we should leave for a weekend trip so we did!  We wanted to take a trip to the temple but unfortunately our temple (which is 4 hours away) was closed so we decided to go to the temple in Baton Rouge (about 5 hours away) and spend the next day in New Orleans.

We started our day at Cafe Du Monde and got Beignets and hot chocolate!

Next we went to the Zoo!  I always love the zoo!

My favorite dinosaur (Ankylosaurus).

I'm not sure why but we didn't take anymore pictures of our day....weird!

After the zoo we walked through the park and caught the trolley.  We went through the Garden District and saw all the huge houses!  We collected a bunch of beads that were caught in trees from all the Mardi Gras parades that happened the weekend before.  We took a walking tour in one of the cemeteries and learned a lot of interesting facts!  We also ventured down to the French Quarter and got some candy!  We had a great weekend!

100th day of school and Layne's birthday!

The kids were supposed to dress like they were 100 years old for the 100th day of school.  This was the best we could come up with!

 Layne turned 55!
