First day of school

Easton-7th grade (soon to be 8th grade)

It was a mess trying to get Easton where he needed to be.  In California they don't care about IEP's for gifted kids.  Easton was in advanced classes for 6th grade.  Every class that he was signed up for in 7th grade he had already taken (with the exception of science).  They didn't even have a way for him to take a more advanced math class which is weird to me because when I was in middle school they put everyone in a math class that was at their level.  Basically after a week of trying to figure things out we decided to skip him to 8th grade.  I was a little nervous since he not only is on the younger end for his grade but also small for his age.

Luckily, it has worked out nicely.  Easton is doing really well at school (made honor roll) and two friends from church are both in 8th grade so they all ride their bikes to school together.  Plus one of his friends is actually shorter than Easton (probably 1/2 an inch but still!)  The other friend actually skipped a grade when he was younger so even though he is older than Easton they would technically be in the same grade if they both didn't skip a grade.  I don't think Easton would have had any church friends at his school if he was in 7th grade.  I think everything worked out for the best!
